Since 2023, across communities like Cedar Hills, Normandy, Hillcrest, Woodstock, and Lackawanna, more families are finding opportunities to put down roots. Through the addition and support of 910 affordable housing units, we are helping create greater housing stability and expanding access to places people can proudly call home. Because strong neighborhoods begin with the security and comfort of knowing you belong to a community that supports your future.
The pride of the Westside can also be found in the parks, community centers, and public spaces where residents gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories. Investments at Mary Lena Gibbs Center, Mallison Park, Terrace Park, Woodstock Park, and the Wayne B. Stevens Boat Ramp have helped breathe new life into places that serve as cornerstones of community life. These improvements create spaces where children can play, families can connect, and neighbors can come together.
At the same time, 591 lighting improvements and support for 34 Jacksonville Small and Emerging Businesses have helped strengthen both safety and opportunity throughout the district. Brighter streets, growing businesses, and continued neighborhood investment are helping reinforce the sense of pride and possibility that defines the Westside.
These investments are more than improvements on a map—they are reflections of the people who make this community special. They tell the story of families building their futures, neighbors investing in one another, and communities continuing to grow stronger together. Across the Westside, that story is still being written, one neighborhood, one opportunity, and one investment at a time.
