Join Us for the 31st Annual St. Johns River Celebration Cleanup on March 21, 2026

Come be part of one of Jacksonville’s longest-running volunteer traditions at the 31st Annual St. Johns River Celebration Cleanup on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Volunteers from across the community are invited to help remove litter and debris from parks, boat ramps, neighborhoods, and other sites throughout Duval County. This annual cleanup is hosted by the City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful in partnership with the Florida Inland Navigation District, Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation, and the Florida Department of Transportation as part of the Keep America Beautiful Greatest American Cleanup. Whether you are joining as an individual, with friends, family, coworkers, or a community group, there is a cleanup site near you and a place for everyone to pitch in. Cleanup times vary by location between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., and pre-registration is not required. Participants must be 18 years old or accompanied by an adult. Trash bags and gloves will be provided, and community service certificates will be available for students. After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to a celebration at the Riverside Arts Market, 715 Riverside Ave., from noon to 2 p.m. for refreshments and T-shirts while supplies last.

City Council

The City Council is the legislative body of the City of Jacksonville's consolidated government and is responsible for making the laws that govern our way of life.  These 19 Council Members, who are elected to four-year terms and serve as part-time legislators, have almost unlimited power to enact legislation in order to provide for the needs of our community. For fair representation throughout the community, the city is divided into 14 districts of nearly equal population and each of these districts elects a single council member.  The other five council members represent the entire community 'at large.'
