Special Events for Seniors

The Special Events for Seniors Office enables Jacksonville's seniors to enjoy cultural, educational, social and recreational events and to be recognized as valued members of the community. Individuals 60 and over are encouraged to participate and all events require an RSVP or ticket for admission. For more information about upcoming senior events and programs, call (904) 255-5667 or email adultsvcs@coj.net.

The safety seminar informs senior citizens about how to be safe and secure and plan for the future. Seniors actively participate and learn how to protect themselves and hear from public safety officials on local safety matters. 

 

Senior fishing at Hanna ParkFish-A-Thon

Seniors can enjoy a real senior fishing tournament at Hanna Park featuring games, activities, contests and lunch. Awards given for largest fish, smallest fish, most fish, prettiest fish and ugliest fish. Games include horseshoes, miniature golf, dancing and a picnic table decorating contest. Seniors enjoy a minor-league baseball game and a traditional ballpark meal at no cost! Transportation is provided to and from their local senior centers.

Hundreds of seniors walking in Metro ParkWalk For Senior Wellness

Bob Hayes Sports Complex and Legends Center (5130 Soutel Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32208)

Seniors enjoy a scenic walk along while celebrating senior fitness and health! Registrants participate in healthy, active programs such as stretching and dancing before the walk. Registered participants will receive a goodie bag along with free lunch! There is no cost for this event! (Duval County residents age 60 and over)

Completed registration and signed release forms are both required to participate. RSVP by:

Download the 2021-2022 Senior Services Directory. The Senior Services Directory is available at all Senior Centers, Public Libraries and the City Hall at St. James Building.

Group Transportation

Transportation is available for the Fish-A-Thon and Holiday Festival for senior residences, church groups, or other senior organizations for confirmed groups of 15 or more. Call 255-5667 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities

If you have time to assist in the planning and support for many of the programs sponsored by the City of Jacksonville for the use and enjoyment by Jacksonville's senior citizens, call (904) 255-5667.
