Services for Victims of Sexual Assault - Women's Center of Jacksonville
Rape Recovery Team
The Rape Recovery Team (RRT) responds quickly and compassionately to survivors of sexual violence whether or not they have chosen to report the crime to police. Services are available to survivors of all genders ages 12 and older in Duval, Nassau and Baker Counties. Meeting locations are available in all three counties for advocacy services. For additional information, please contact the 24-hour Rape Crisis Hotline: 904-721-7273.
Experiencing sexual violence can change a survivor's view of the world. Whether or not the survivor suffers any physical injuries, the emotional impact of the violence can be significant. Recovery can seem like an endless journey. Emotions such as fear, shame and confusion may continue long after the violence ends. There is support available for you wherever you are in the healing process. The RRT approach to support is empowerment-based, providing access to information and resources so that survivors can make the choice they feel is best for them. Communications with RRT advocates are confidential.
For those who choose to report, the RRT works collaboratively with the State Attorney’s Office and local Sheriff's Offices and Police Departments throughout Duval, Baker and Nassau Counties to ensure that survivors receive the most comprehensive services available. For those choosing NOT to report, we have an extensive network of community partners who assist us in assuring a network of care for our clients, so no individual faces this alone.
The following specialized services are provided:
24-Hour Rape Crisis Hotline (904-721-7273)
24-hour on-call advocacy and forensic exam response
Sexual assault forensic medical/forensic examinations are available for survivors of sexual assault ages 18 and older within 120 hours (5 days) of the assault
Mental health counseling
Information and referral
Support groups
Advocacy and accompaniment for medical, criminal justice appointments and other needs
Prevention, education and training programs
The RRT Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) Program is located at 5300 Emerson St., Jacksonville, FL 32207.

The team consists of a Medical Director, Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners and trained Advocates. Examiners are trained in forensic evidence collection, sensitivity and expert witness testimony. The Medical Director is a licensed MD and provides supervision for program protocols and staff.
