DIA Community Workshop - Interactive art at Music Heritage Garden

July 23, 2025 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Notice is hereby given that the City of Jacksonville Downtown Investment Authority (DIA) will host a community workshop on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 4:00 and 6:00 pm at the Main Branch Library Lobby located at 303 N. Laura Street. This is an in-person, drop-in style workshop; no virtual participation will be available. The purpose of the workshop is to invite public input on the artists and lyrics to be featured in one of the interactive art installations planned for the future Music Heritage Garden.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The Urban Conga, an artist studio, is creating an interactive installation inspired by iconic lyrics from Jacksonville’s musical past and present. The artwork will feature four themed zones – like movements in a symphony – where visitors can read, remix, and create new verses using the words of Jacksonville musicians.

At our first workshop earlier this year, the community shared great ideas and inspiration. Now, we're inviting you to take the next step: help shape the final direction of the piece by identifying the artists and lyrics that resonate most with our community – and get a first look at design renderings for the installation.
