Jacksonville is charting a path toward a stronger, more resilient regional economy by preparing for future environmental and economic challenges while supporting economic growth, workforce development, public health, and overall quality of life. Through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) Program, funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, the City of Jacksonville was awarded a $1 million noncompetitive planning grant to develop a regional Climate Action Plan for the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which includes Duval, Clay, St. Johns, and Nassau counties, as well as the City of Palm Coast.
The Clean Air NEFL Initiative was established to support this effort in partnership with local governments, agencies, and community stakeholders. The Regional Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) was published in 2024. The Regional Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) is scheduled to be published in February 2026.
