Workshops & Training

The City of Jacksonville supports ongoing education and training to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety, planning, and design. Through coordination with local, regional, and federal partners, the City works to build technical knowledge and support implementation of best practices in active transportation.
Training opportunities may include in-person workshops, virtual sessions, and self-guided learning resources. These efforts support implementation of the City’s Vision Zero Action Plan and Safe System approach.
External Training and Learning Resources
Several national and regional organizations offer free webinars, recorded trainings, and self-guided learning opportunities related to bicycle and pedestrian planning, safety, and design. The resources below are available to the public and provide valuable guidance for practitioners, partners, and community members.
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Training Resources
The Federal Highway Administration provides a wide range of training materials, recorded webinars, and technical resources focused on improving pedestrian and bicyclist safety. Topics include Safe System strategies, systemic safety analysis, intersection design, and multimodal planning.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC)
The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center is a national resource center funded by the Federal Highway Administration that provides research, training, and technical assistance to improve conditions for walking and bicycling. PBIC offers a library of recorded webinars covering safety, planning, design, and community engagement topics.
Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP)
The Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals is a national professional organization that supports the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of pedestrian and bicycle facilities. APBP offers a large archive of recorded webinars covering a wide range of technical topics and best practices.
League of American Bicyclists (LOAB)
The League of American Bicyclists is a national organization that promotes bicycling through education, advocacy, and programs. Their online learning platform includes free training modules for bicyclists, educators, and drivers.
Florida Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP)
The Florida Local Technical Assistance Program provides training and technical assistance to transportation professionals across Florida. Their recorded webinar library includes a wide range of topics related to roadway safety, maintenance, and multimodal transportation.
Safe Routes Partnership
The Safe Routes Partnership advances safe walking and bicycling to and from schools and in communities. Their webinar series includes topics related to Safe Routes to School programs, equity, safety, and community engagement.
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC)
The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a national nonprofit organization that works to create and connect trail networks across the United States, transforming former rail corridors and other spaces into active transportation assets. RTC offers a series of free webinars and trainings focused on trail planning, funding, advocacy, and implementation.
