The Mayor's Hispanic American Advisory Board

The Mayor's Hispanic American Advisory Board consists of up to 11 members appointed by the Mayor to effectively recognize the concerns, needs, and desires of the Hispanic community in Jacksonville. The purpose of the Board is to advocate on behalf of the Hispanic American community and provide a means by which the City may obtain information, guidance, and advice on issues facing residents of Hispanic descent. In addition, the Board may conduct comprehensive studies relating to its citizens of Hispanic descent.

Total Members

Up to 11 members appointed by the Mayor. 

Committee Duties

  • Recognize the concerns, needs, and desires of the Hispanic community in Jacksonville.
  • Advocate on behalf of the Hispanic American community.
  • Provide information, guidance, and advice to the City on issues affecting residents of Hispanic descent.
  • Conduct comprehensive studies relating to citizens of Hispanic descent when appropriate.

Meeting Schedule

The MHAAB meets on the third Tuesday of every month (unless otherwise noted) from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 303 N. Laura Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202, 1st Floor Lounge. Please call 904-255-5466 to confirm. For more information, contact MHAAB@coj.net

Sabrina Marcos Smith is an attorney at Fisher Tousey Leas & Ball, P.A., whose practice focuses on business, real estate, commercial, and fiduciary litigation. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Saint Louis University School of Law, she previously served as an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Fourth Judicial Circuit and later practiced civil litigation with a national law firm. She is a 2019 Leadership Jacksonville Next Generation alumna and has been recognized by The Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Business Journal for her professional excellence and community leadership.
