Addressing Section
Mission
Pursuant to Chapter 745 of the municipal code, the mission of the City of Jacksonville Addressing Section is to assign new addresses in an accurate manner based on City Policy and modify existing addresses to conform to the policy to ensure that citizens can be located in case of an emergency.
Addressing Processes and Services
Addresses are issued to structures and occupancies rather than to the land that they occupy. A vacant parcel may be assigned an address in anticipation of a structure being built. The City of Jacksonville only addresses properties located within the municipal boundary.
