The Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD) of the City of Jacksonville is dedicated to honoring and supporting Veterans, service members, and their famiiles.  We provide free, compassionate, and comperhensive assistance to help Veterans navigate benefits, employment, housing, legal aid, and social services.

We believe in restoring dignity, empowering lives, and ensuring no Veteran is left behind.

FREE TAX FILING FOR VETERANS starting on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in the MAVD office.  Appointments are required. 

Onward to Opportunity Program (O2O) Announce 2019 Cohorts

The Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) Tri-Base Jacksonville Onward to Opportunity Program (O2O) will be launching its 2019 Cohorts at Wounded Warrior Project with approximately 100 transitioning service members, guardsmen, reservists, veterans and military spouses seeking certifications in 17 IT, 6 Business and 1 Customer Excellence tracks. Certifications include Project Management, Human Resources and IT from entry level up to Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and now including Oracle and SAS Programming. This program covers the cost of the online training course work and certification exam. It is COMPLETELY FREE of charge and an outstanding opportunity for our veterans and military families. NAS JAX FOOD FARMACY

All active-duty families with military ID are welcome to attend this event.  The Food Farmacy provides a valuable opportunity for military Families to receive fresh, nutritious food to support their health adn well-being.  Attendees must bring their military ID to participate.  

This occurs they 4th Tuesday of the month from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and it is located at 5391 Collins Rd, Jacksonville, FL  32244.

Harrison Conyers

Harrison Conyers was first appointed by Mayor John Delaney as a Management and Planning Analyst for Community Services in January 1996 and also served as the Deputy Director of Quality Services for the Jacksonville Children’s Commission from 1997 -2005.

As the Director, Military Affairs and Veterans Department, he serves as military liaison to all military commands in Duval County for the City of Jacksonville and the strategic advisor to the Mayor on matters related to the military.
