Shelter Data and Transparency

Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS) operates in full compliance with Florida Statute 823.15, which requires animal shelters in Florida to publicly report intake and outcome data. We take that responsibility seriously.

We believe transparency is not optional. It builds trust, drives accountability, and strengthens our community. That is why we go beyond the minimum reporting requirements outlined in state law.

In addition to required state reporting, ACPS submits detailed monthly data to national animal welfare organizations, including Best Friends Animal Society, Shelter Pet Data Alliance and Shelter Animals Count, as well as the University of Florida, Shelter Medicine Program. This ensures our numbers are part of a larger, standardized national data set and allows for meaningful benchmarking against peer agencies.

We also maintain a real-time transparency dashboard that provides up-to-date information on intake, outcomes, live release rates, and other key metrics. Our community should not have to wait for an annual report to understand how their municipal shelter is performing.

Clear data. Open reporting. Full accountability.
