Dedicated, dependable, and always willing to step up when something needs to get done, Ellen embodies what it means to support the ACPS mission. She started as a committed dog walker with Dogs Around Duval and worked her way up to being an official Orange level volunteer, handling and enriching some of our more challenging dogs with patience and confidence.
Ellen has also become a huge part of keeping things at the shelter running smoothly behind the scenes. She helps organize and delegate volunteer tasks, played a key role in revamping and speeding up our volunteer onboarding process, and stepped up early on to help coordinate our Stroll Mates group walks. She recognized how vital these group walks are; the community volunteers who participate in Stroll Mates are responsible for hundreds of dogs getting extra walks each week.
As if that wasn’t enough, she now spends several hours each week from home helping answer ACPS emails and direct messages on our social media channels so that adopters and community members get the support they need as soon as possible.
Ellen makes sure everyone is taken care of—sometimes literally by bringing in incredible homemade food!—and she keeps us all on track to get our work done. We truly could not do this work without her, and we're incredibly lucky to have her as part of the ACPS volunteer family. Thank you, Ellen!
