September is Suicide Awareness Month.  At this event, you will be able to explore more than 80 valuable resources from the community and Veteran Affairs all while enjoying a free catered lunch.  There will be guest speakers that will provide life-saving education through humor and personal stories.   This will provide essential mental health first aid by demonstrating what an open, supportive conversatin looks like.

This will honor and recognize the service members who were stationed at the base, Former Prisoners of War and those still Missing in Action. The World's Largest Golf Outing (WLGO) is about having a great day of golf with friends, family and colleagues, while benefiting Fisher House Foundation (FHF). Fisher House Foundation is a non-profit which is best known for a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. This WLGO event is an 18 hole four person team scramble format. The 4th Annual Military Spouse Night Out presented by VyStar Credit Union will be on Thursday, April 25th, 2019 at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Operation New Uniform Graduation is an informal morning where our ONU veterans share their experiences from the program. HerTOTALWellness is a 6-week program that requires 6 hours a week of your time.  You will have workshops in financial management, business ownership, employment prep, nutrition, credit repair, workplace wellness, VA Claims, journaling, time management, stress management, health and wellness, and self-awareness.  In addition, you will participant in art, gardening, yoga, a weekend retreat, and much more.  Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday, 3 hours each day, 9:30am – 12:30pm. While attending this program, you will have a case manager available to assist you if you have challenges with transportation, rent, utilities, food, clothing, and/or other necessities.

The venue is the beautiful Championship Golf Course on Naval Air Station Jacksonville – a demanding 6,890 yard, par 72 that winds through tree-lined fairways complemented with rich blue lakes. It’s one of the finest golf courses in the Jacksonville area and at the top of golfers’ playlist. Registration is 9am, with Shotgun Start at 10am. A continental breakfast, a post-round luncheon is included along with many raffles and prizes for all participants, rounding out a great program and day of fun!

The goal of the Troops Championship is to “sponsor” our local troops with a free day of golf and well-deserved R&R! Approximately half the field is made up of active duty foursomes and it is a wonderful and fulfilling outing in honor of America’s finest that represent Jacksonville so well.

In January, seven Veterans were interred without any friends or family at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. Every year, the Jacksonville National Cemetery holds a ceremony in which wreaths are laid on the tombstones of our local heroes.

This event is sponsored and organized by an employee resource group called the SOAR Veteran’s Mayo Employees Resource Group (MERG).  Mayo Employee Resource Groups or MERGs (pronounced merges) are employee-organized groups that form around a common dimension of diversity. MERGs may focus on traditional diversity dimensions such as ethnicity, age, and gender.
 
The SOAR MERG purpose includes the following; to support the needs of Mayo Clinic employees who have a current or historical relationship to or a simple appreciation of the US Armed Services.
