The public is invited to the Breakfast with Our Heroes to honor Purple Heart recipients, meet those that served and extend helping hands to homeless veterans in reemployment programs. Salute our Nation’s Combat Wounded to commemorate the upcoming August 7^th National Purple Heart Day.  Show your love and appreciation to Purple Heart Veterans and buy tickets for their breakfast. 
 
Where: Applebee’s, 5055 J. Turner Butler, Jacksonville 32216 near I-95 and US-1
When: Saturday, August 3, 2019, from 8 to 10 a.m.
Seating is limited:  Cost is $12 each or 3 for $30 for 6 for $54.

There will be a special meeting of the Veterans Council of Duval County on Monday, July 29th at 7:00 P.M. at American Legion Post 137. 

Jacksonville VA Social Work Service and AARP present "Fraud Watch: Guarding Yourself Against Fraud, Scams and Con Games at the Jacksonville VA Outpatient Clinic. This event is open to the public. No registration is required. This information session will cover:

• identity safety and security
• common techniques used to steal one's identity
• methods to protect financial records
• how to take action if your identity is stolen

Join the Department of Veterans Affairs for an 8 hour presentation by Department of Veterans Affairs Police and Mental Health specialists. This training aims to improve First Responders engagement with Veterans in crisis, teaches audience about Post Deployment issues combat Veterans may experience upon returning home, focusing on Mental Health, Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Suicide Prevention This training also provides an opportunity to connect First Responders who are Veterans themselves.

The JobNewsUSA.com Job Fair will be held Wednesday, July 17 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. This is a terrific opportunity for job seekers to meet face to face with some of Northeast Florida's best companies and organizations. There will be a free computer lab available for job seekers to research companies, apply to jobs and customize resumes. Also, bilingual (Spanish) job seeker assistance will be provided. Parking and admission are free. Job seekers should dress professionally, bring plenty of resumes and should pre-register.
