New Volunteer Training
Welcome to the heart of our medical department. As a Medical Volunteer, you provide the specialized care and quiet support that our animals need most while they heal, recover from surgery, or undergo treatment.
Core Responsibilities
• Recovery Husbandry: Provide attentive care for pets during extended stays in our medical area. This includes ensuring they have clean bedding, fresh water, and a calm environment conducive to healing.
• Treatment Support: You will assist the medical team by safely "pulling" animals from their recovery areas for their scheduled treatments or examinations.
• Movement & Exercise: Even recovering pets need fresh air. You’ll be responsible for gentle walks for dogs staying in our treatment and surgery areas, following specific protocols tailored to their physical limitations.
• Operational Assistance: Help keep our medical areas running smoothly by performing surgery laundry, making and maintaining sanitary surgery packs, feeding patients according to their specific dietary needs, and re-stocking essential medical supplies.
• Sanitation & Safety: Maintaining a sterile environment is critical. You will play a key role in upholding strict sanitation regulations to prevent the spread of illness and ensure a safe space for vulnerable animals.
• Advocacy: Use your unique perspective on these resilient animals to help promote them for medical fosters or adoptions, highlighting their progress and the specific care they need in a home.
Important: High-level cleanliness and adherence to medical handling protocols are vital in this area. Your attention to detail directly impacts the speed and success of their recovery!
