“Day in the Life of a Shelter Worker” Day Camp
This day camp, open to children ages 8-13, will immerse young animal lovers and future shelter employees in a typical day at ACPS. Students will get to know the different departments at their City’s municipal shelter, get a taste for what employees do, and learn about animal care and behavior in a classroom setting.
Students can expect to meet a dog, care for and cuddle with cats, observe procedures in our medical area, have a Q&A with one of our Officers, and pick up some customer service skills with our adoption counselors. Their classroom time will consist of lessons and crafts themed around responsible pet ownership, critical topics in the animal welfare field such as microchipping and lost pet prevention, and canine and feline body language.
Outdoor portions of the day will continue rain or shine, so please send them prepared for the weather!
Sessions are held on Fridays from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with an hour designated for lunch (not provided).
