“Day in the Life of a Shelter Worker” Day Camp

Welcome to Day Camp!

Students will get to know the different departments at their City’s municipal shelter, get a taste for what employees do, and learn about animal care and behavior along the way. Their classroom time will consist of lessons and crafts themed around responsible pet ownership and canine and feline body language. Outdoor portions of the day will continue rain or shine, so come prepared for the weather! Sessions will allow 45 minutes for lunch (not provided).

Program dates for 2026:
Students age 8-10 are welcome to join us on Thursday, June 25 from 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
Students age 11-13 are welcome to join us on Friday, June 26 from 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
Each session has space for a maximum of 5 students.

Program donation is $50, due upon drop off. Donations like these help offset the cost associated with staffing and materials, including ACPS “official junior volunteer” shirt.

Scholarships are available; for more information, please contact the Humane Education Program Coordinator, Morgan Peacock-Foell, at mpeacock@coj.net

Please be advised that as we are a public government building, photos and videos are occasionally taken that might include your students. We do post photos and videos on our social media pages to highlight our various programs, including those in the Humane Education Department.
