Waste Recycling

The Jacksonville Waste and Recycling mobile app provides your customized collection calendar for trash, recycling, and green waste pickup, plus holiday scheduling and disposal guidelines.

Not sure how to sort different types of waste? Use the “Wizard” section to determine whether a specific item goes into your trash, recycling or compost. You can even sign up for free reminders, so you'll never miss a collection day.

The Jacksonville City Council is composed of nineteen members who are elected for a four-year term and serve as part-time legislators. In May of each year, the Council elects a President and Vice President to serve one-year terms beginning the first of July. The nineteen members are not all elected in the same manner; some are elected from districts, and others are elected at large.

CITY OF JACKSONVILLE LAUNCHES AFFORDABLE HOUSING DASHBOARD

As housing costs continue to be top of mind for citizens, the City of Jacksonville has released a new affordable housing transparency dashboard that tracks the development of below market rate housing, including workforce, affordable, and low-income housing units. Nearly 6,000 multi-family units have entered the planning phase, started construction, or reached completion since Mayor Deegan took office.

City Council

The City Council is the legislative body of the City of Jacksonville's consolidated government and is responsible for making the laws that govern our way of life. These 19 Council Members, who are elected to four-year terms and serve as part-time legislators, have almost unlimited power to enact legislation in order to provide for the needs of our community. For fair representation throughout the community, the city is divided into 14 districts of nearly equal population and each of these districts elects a single council member. The other five council members represent the entire community 'at large.'
