Representation throughout the community of Jacksonville

The Jacksonville City Council is composed of nineteen members who are elected for a four-year term and serve as part-time legislators. In May of each year, the Council elects a President and Vice President to serve one-year terms beginning the first of July. The nineteen members are not all elected in the same manner; some are elected from districts, and others are elected at large.

Join Us for the 31st Annual St. Johns River Celebration Cleanup on March 21, 2026

March 13, 2026

Come be part of one of Jacksonville’s longest-running volunteer traditions at the 31st Annual St. Johns River Celebration Cleanup on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Volunteers from across the community are invited to help remove litter and debris from parks, boat ramps, neighborhoods, and other sites throughout Duval County.

This annual cleanup is hosted by the City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful in partnership with the Florida Inland Navigation District, Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation, and the Florida Department of Transportation as part of the Keep America Beautiful Greatest American Cleanup.

Whether you are joining as an individual, with friends, family, coworkers, or a community group, there is a cleanup site near you and a place for everyone to pitch in. Cleanup times vary by location between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., and pre-registration is not required. Participants must be 18 years old or accompanied by an adult. Trash bags and gloves will be provided, and community service certificates will be available for students.

After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to a celebration at the Riverside Arts Market, 715 Riverside Ave., from noon to 2 p.m. for refreshments and T-shirts while supplies last.
