The Jacksonville Waste and Recycling mobile app provides your customized collection calendar for trash, recycling, and green waste pickup, plus holiday scheduling and disposal guidelines.

Not sure how to sort different types of waste? Use the “Wizard” section to determine whether a specific item goes into your trash, recycling or compost. You can even sign up for free reminders, so you'll never miss a collection day.

The Jacksonville City Council is composed of nineteen members who are elected for a four-year term and serve as part-time legislators. In May of each year, the Council elects a President and Vice President to serve one-year terms beginning the first of July. The nineteen members are not all elected in the same manner; some are elected from districts, and others are elected at large.

Mayor Donna Deegan will host a final round of town halls focused on the city’s FY25-26 budget.

Each town hall will take place at 6pm, except for the one at Northside Church of Christ, which will begin at 5:30pm. And they are free and open to the public, with no RSVP required.

City Council

The City Council is the legislative body of the City of Jacksonville's consolidated government and is responsible for making the laws that govern our way of life. These 19 Council Members, who are elected to four-year terms and serve as part-time legislators, have almost unlimited power to enact legislation in order to provide for the needs of our community. For fair representation throughout the community, the city is divided into 14 districts of nearly equal population and each of these districts elects a single council member. The other five council members represent the entire community 'at large.'
