Off the Backboard!
Adaptive Basketball was created by World War II veterans with disabilities, and is played on specially designed wheelchairs for persons with physical impairments. The world governing body of wheelchair basketball is the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF). Adaptive Basketball is a full medal sport in the Summer Paralympic Games. Jacksonville is home to the Para-professional team the Brooks Ballers'.

Deaf Basketball
United States of America Deaf Basketball (USADB) is a national basketball organization serving Deaf and hard of Hearing athletes who desire to participate in organized sports activities. There are eight regional units sponsored by USADB which come together at annual national tournaments and summer basketball camps to develop a sense of good sportsmanship and leadership skills among interested and talented players.
