Duval County Burn Ban Lifted
The Duval County burn ban has been lifted. Under Jacksonville Municipal Code Section 420.201, all outdoor open burning in Duval County is prohibited year‑round without a permit, including on residential properties. Burning household waste, yard waste, or construction materials is illegal. The only allowable burning is land‑clearing debris from the initial clearing of vegetation on commercial properties, and it requires an open‑burning permit. For permit information, contact the Environmental Quality Division at (904) 255‑7100.

The Jacksonville City Council is composed of nineteen members who are elected for a four-year term and serve as part-time legislators. In May of each year, the Council elects a President and Vice President to serve one-year terms beginning the first of July. The nineteen members are not all elected in the same manner; some are elected from districts, and others are elected at large.

St. Johns Marina Boat Ramp to Close During South Bank Construction
Beginning August 1, the St. Johns Marina Boat Ramp in Downtown Jacksonville, 901 Museum Circle, will be closed during construction of the adjacent South Bank Residences project.

MAYOR DEEGAN PRESENTS PROCLAMATION AT JACKSONVILLE'S OLDEST FIRE STATION, CELEBRATING 140 YEARS OF JACKSONVILLE FIRE AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT
Mayor Donna Deegan presented a proclamation to Fire Chief Percy Golden II today at Fire Station 2, the oldest continuously operating fire station in the city, commemorating 140 years of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
City Council
The City Council is the legislative body of the City of Jacksonville's consolidated government and is responsible for making the laws that govern our way of life. These 19 Council Members, who are elected to four-year terms and serve as part-time legislators, have almost unlimited power to enact legislation in order to provide for the needs of our community. For fair representation throughout the community, the city is divided into 14 districts of nearly equal population and each of these districts elects a single council member. The other five council members represent the entire community 'at large.'
