The Jacksonville City Council is composed of nineteen members who are elected for a four-year term and serve as part-time legislators. In May of each year, the Council elects a President and Vice President to serve one-year terms beginning the first of July. Mayor Deegan Presents Proposed Budget to City Council

Mayor Donna Deegan presented the proposed 2024-2025 budget to the Jacksonville City Council this morning. The proposal includes a $1.92 billion general fund budget and $489 million in the 2025 portion of the five-year Capital Improvement Plan, which is $1.95 billion in total from 2025-2029.

City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans HVRP Department Awarded Three-Year Grant from U.S. Department of Labor

The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD) has been awarded a three-year grant of $271,457 per year from the U.S. Department of Labor to support the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP). The employment-focused program utilizes a case management approach to directly assist homeless veterans with access to a variety of local support services.
