Important clarification about shelters open to the public. LaVilla Middle School will be available for homeless citizens. While all four shelters will open at 5 p.m., information about shelters for the general public, special needs individuals and pets is below.

ACPS Announces Temporary Intake Limitation

Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) has reported numerous times over the last several months that the shelter has been experiencing overcrowding that exceeds their capacity for care. Many animal shelters nationwide are struggling with increasing in-shelter animal populations and ACPS is no exception. Recently, a State of Emergency was declared for all South Carolina Shelters due to overcrowding.

Mayor Encourages Community to Utilize City's Emergency Assistance Program

Many are having to pick and choose between paying rent, mortgage, phone and electric bills, or buying crucial staples like food. Mayor Curry wants to remind the community that the City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Assistance Program is available to qualified Duval County residents in need.
