Tangible Personal Property Appraiser
The Property Appraiser’s Office is currently seeking to fill a
Tangible Personal Property Appraiser
position. This is a full-time position involving the appraisal and auditing of tangible personal property (TPP). Duties include performing computer-assisted appraisal of property such as furniture, fixtures, equipment and machinery for all tangible accounts in Duval County. TPP Appraisers have significant contact with the public, conduct desk audits and also support and defend assessments in Value Adjustment Board hearings and court proceedings. Appraisers receive financial incentive pay for certain state and national certifications which they have the opportunity to pursue with paid training.
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
At least two (2) years of experience in appraisal, accounting, bookkeeping or equivalent.
College degree in accounting or business preferred.
Knowledge of the various types of equipment, fixtures and other tangible personal property typically used in commercial establishments.
Knowledge of personal property appraisal methods preferred.
Ability to make accurate mathematical calculations.
Ability to analyze complex and diverse information, arrive at timely conclusions and solve problems.
Presentation skills to communicate clearly and concisely concerning valuations at hearings and other legal proceedings.
Good working knowledge of MS WORD and MS EXCEL applications.
The salary range for this position is mid $30,000s to mid $40,000s annually depending on experience.
