Mayor Brown has proclaimed Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 as “Ultimate TEALgate Day” in support of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Monday Night Football game against the San Diego Chargers. To create a fun environment for all to enjoy, the Jaguars and others will host festivities at various locations throughout downtown.

Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is partnering with the Sea to Shore Alliance, Keepers of the Coast and other organizations to host a beach cleanup at the Right Whale Festival, a celebration for the critically endangered North Atlantic right whales' annual return to the southeast coast of the United States. The warm waters off the coasts of Northeast Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are the only known right whale calving areas in the North Atlantic.

Second Annual "America Recycles Day"

The City of Jacksonville, Keep Jacksonville Beautiful and Southland Recycling Services will celebrate Keep America Beautiful’s second annual America Recycles Day in Jacksonville with a recycling collection event. In 2010, the partnering agencies collected more than 23,000 pounds of paper, plastic and aluminum products, which is used for the production of new goods instead of going into the landfill. This year, traditional recyclables will be collected along with used cell phones, iPods and chargers, gently worn shoes and teacher supplies.
