ACPS PARTNERS WITH REGIONAL SHELTERS FOR MEGA ADOPTION EVENT
June 27, 2025
The City of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) is joining 11 other Northeast Florida shelters for the annual “Petco Love Mega Adoption Event” this weekend. Hundreds of dogs and cats will be available for adoption at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM each day.
The Florida Leaders in Lifesaving program, the Jacksonville Humane Society, and Petco Love have come together to provide this opportunity for a huge lifesaving weekend. This is a state-wide event, during which shelters aim to find loving homes for 2,000 shelter pets in just one weekend.
“The Mega Adoption Event is hands down one of the coolest things we do all year,” said ACPS Chief Michael Bricker. “It’s a chance to completely change the lives of hundreds of amazing dogs and cats—and the people who adopt them. There’s nothing like watching a family meet their new best friend for the first time. It’s emotional, it’s exciting, and it’s worth being a part of. If you’ve ever thought about adopting, this is the weekend to do it.”
All animals will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines, and all adoption fees will be waived. Duval County residents will pay a $20 city license fee.
ACPS plans on bringing approximately 80 dogs and 40 cats each day. And ACPS staff and volunteers will be on hand to act as matchmakers and answer any questions.
