Noise & Being a Good Neighbor

Red alarm clock next to a bed

Jacksonville enforces the Jacksonville Noise Control Ordinance (Municipal Code Chapter 368), and all short-term rentals must comply. Please help us keep good standing with our neighbors.

  • Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Keep music, TVs, voices, and outdoor gatherings low particularly during these hours.
  • Daytime residential limit 55 dBA / Nighttime 55 dBA, measured at the property line, roughly the level of normal conversation. There are also limits on specific frequencies (like base from music).
  • 24/7 local contact: If you have a noise concern or emergency, call the local contact number posted by the front door before it becomes an issue.
  • Why it matters: Noise violations can bring guest fines of $500 and, for repeat issues up to $4,500, and the rental's ability to operate. Please treat the neighborhood as your own.

Pool Safety (if your rental has a pool or spa)

Pool in a screened in porch next to house

Florida is warm year-round, but drowning is the leading cause of death for young children in the state. Under the Florida Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act (Chapter 515), this property maintains at least one safety feature. Please use it every time.

  • Never leave children unattended near the water, not even for a moment. Constant adult supervision is the single most important safety measure.
  • Keep the pool barrier/gate closed and latched. Gates are self-closing and self-latching and must swing outward, away from the pool. Never prop them open.
  • Designate a "water watcher". A sober adult whose only job is to watch swimmers.
  • No diving unless a deep end is clearly marked; no glass in the pool area.
  • Secure ladders/steps on above-ground pools when not in use.
  • If a safety cover or door/gate alarm is present, re-engage it after every use.
  • In a water emergency, call 911 immediately and begin CPR if trained.
