Employee Benefits Division

Welcome

The Benefits Division plays a vital role in the comprehensive management of benefits programs for various stakeholders. We are committed to providing top-notch services for city employees, external agencies, constitutional offices, retirees, and eligible dependents.

Our comprehensive benefits include health insurance, Tricare Supplement, employee and dependent life insurance, and dental and vision plans. We also offer COBRA continuation health coverage and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), for pre-tax reimbursement of medical, elder / childcare, transportation, and parking expenses. A Health Savings Account (HSA) is also available for full time employees enrolled in the Qualified High Deductible Health Plan. Additionally, we offer an OBRA 457(b) Plan, 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan, and a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan to help secure the financial future of our employees.

To further support our employees, we conduct new hire orientation sessions, pre-retirement seminars, and an engaging wellness program. The city's wellness program offers blood drives, flu shot clinics, "Lunch and Learn" sessions, and biometric screenings to support a healthy workforce. The city has been recognized as a Blue Zone Approved worksite and a Gold Award Winner for one of the healthiest companies in the state.

With our dedicated team and a diverse range of benefit programs, we aim to ensure the well-being of all members of the city's workforce, both present, and retired. We continuously strive to improve and evolve our services to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.

Breathing Easier - Quit Smoking

November 05, 2025
Smoking or vaping, even only occasionally, may seem harmless in the moment, but the cumulative effects can be devastating. Smoking has been linked to cancers, lung disease, heart disease, low birth weight, miscarriage, type 2 diabetes, erectile dysfunction, and other chronic health conditions. Fortunately, by quitting you can significantly improve the quality—and quantity—of your life.
