Jacksonville City Council Member Rahman Johnson (District 14) will convene a noticed meeting to discuss a future Downtown Entertainment District. The Council recently adopted Ordinance 2026-63, extending the hours of alcohol sales downtown to 3:00 a.m.
The discussion will focus on a proposed ordinance requiring a comprehensive, data driven report evaluating the impacts of extended hours within the current Downtown Entertainment District, with attention to public safety, economic activity, and operational fairness. The meeting will provide an opportunity to review the structure, intent, and analytical framework of the legislation prior to its anticipated introduction and to address outstanding questions and stakeholder considerations.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the Don Davis Room at City Hall at St. James, 117 West Duval Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202.
