Atlantic Sun Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments Headed to Jacksonville

Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Commissioner Jeff Bacon announced Wednesday a multi-year agreement to bring the ASUN Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments to Jacksonville, Fla., starting in 2026. This marks the first time since 2013 that the conference conducts both of its Basketball postseason events at a single site.

Council Member FreemanSpeaking at River City Science Academy Southeast Civics Class 6th & 7th graders.  As a former teacher and Principal, CM Freeman understands engaging student at a young age with civic leaders and involvement in their communities and the impact of engaged civic leaders which his voice would provide invaluable insight and inspiration to the students.In honor of Black History Month, he was honored to volunteer his time for this amazing speaking event. He enjoyed speaking with the students about the significance of this month, leadership, and the impact of civic engagement within the Black community. His life experiences and perspectives as a leader in Jacksonville was incredibly meaningful to the students, helping them to connect history with the present and empowering them to become active members of their communities.

Volunteers Needed for the 30th Annual St. Johns River Celebration

Volunteers are needed for the 30th Annual St. Johns River Celebration, Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to noon (times vary according to cleanup site). Participants will help spruce up the city by collecting litter and debris from dozens of pre-selected riverfront and inland sites (sites are listed below). The City and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful are hosting the event in partnership with Florida Inland Navigation District and Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation as part of the Florida Great American Cleanup, a statewide effort to protect the environment throughout the spring.

The City of Jacksonville and the Emergency Preparedness Division is urging residents with medical needs to register for free for the Special Medical Needs Registry ahead of hurricane season. Annual registration ensures individuals who require medical support receive necessary assistance during emergencies, including evacuation, transportation, and sheltering services.

As part of the Adams & Forsyth Two-Way Mobility Project, there will be upcoming changes to the traffic pattern on both Adams Street and Forsyth Street between Jefferson Street and Liberty Street. This construction, which will facilitate the conversion of both streets into a two-way, single-lane traffic pattern, will be conducted in two phases:
