The shipment features premium shrimp from H&S Shrimp, a family-owned Jacksonville institution that has been providing fresh, locally caught seafood to the community since 1959. The business is owned by the family of a Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department firefighter, representing the best of Jacksonville's working waterfront tradition.
"While we would have loved for our Jaguars to continue their amazing season, we're proud to share a taste of Jacksonville with our friends in Buffalo," said Mayor Deegan. "Mayport shrimp is world-class, and there's no better representative of our city's maritime heritage than H&S Shrimp. I hope Mayor Ryan and the people of Buffalo enjoy this delicious reminder of what makes Jacksonville special,” said Deegan.
The friendly bet between the two mayors highlighted the playoff rivalry while celebrating each city's unique culinary traditions. Mayport shrimp, caught fresh from Northeast Florida waters, is prized for its sweet flavor and tender texture.
"Bets like these bring communities together and remind us that sports are about more than just wins and losses," Mayor Deegan added. "Enjoy, and we’ll be back for those wings next year!”
As part of their bet, the mayors are also donating money to alleviate hunger in their communities. Mayor Deegan donated $500 to Feed More Western New York, and Mayor Ryan gave the same amount to Feeding Northeast Florida.
