The City of Jacksonville’s Office of Administrative Services is issuing an air quality advisory today, due to elevated levels of ozone. Warm and dry weather conditions could contribute to the elevated ozone concentrations. Elevated ozone levels are forecast for the next couple of days.
Sensitive groups, including children and those over the age of 65: Make outdoor activities shorter and less intense. Take more breaks. Watch for symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, throat irritation or headaches. Plan outdoor activities in the morning when ozone is lower.
People with chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma/COPD/chronic bronchitis: Take your preventative medications, follow your respiratory action plan and keep quick-relief medicine handy.
Everyone else: Consider making outdoor activities shorter and less intense.
