MAYOR DEEGAN ANNOUNCES FIRST-YEAR WINNERS OF MAYOR DEEGAN’S RIVER CITY READERS

Today, Mayor Deegan honored the top 25 youth and adult readers in the city at a special event commemorating the first year of River City Readers, her landmark literacy initiative. The mayor created River City Readers as a citywide challenge to help more Duval County students read at grade level. The mayor’s literacy program is intended to support a commitment to growing jobs and spurring economic development, improving health and public safety, deepening the city’s talent pool, and fostering a love of learning in all citizens.

Mayor Donna Deegan will host a series of six town halls to discuss her budget priorities and update citizens on a range of city projects and initiatives. These events are free and open to the public and do not require preregistration.

CITY OF JACKSONVILLE UPDATE ON WINTER STORM ENZO

The National Weather Service Jacksonville has expanded the Winter Storm Warning to include all of Duval County. There will be freezing rain and a wintry mix of precipitation occurring approximately after 7pm this evening into early Wednesday morning – with icy conditions potentially lasting until 12pm. Precipitation is predicted to impact the entire county with the highest chances occurring downtown Westward. The Cold Weather and Freeze Warning Advisories show wind chill temperatures in the upper teens to low 20s.
