Daren Anderson serves as Assistant General Counsel, and Corporation Secretary for the City of Jacksonville, advising various departments, independent agencies, and City boards.  Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Mr. Anderson was Corporate Counsel for a national energy trading company. In this role, he provided counsel for corporate governance and regulatory compliance while managing transactional and legal issues involving risk portfolios for more than 60 public power utilities across the U.S. RTO/ISO wholesale power markets. He has experience negotiating and drafting energy agreements, including Resource Management Agreements, WSPP, ISDA, EEI, and NAESB master trading agreements for transactions involving power, natural gas, and RINs. 

His background includes experience at the regional law firm Adams and Reese, where he represented corporate clients and financial institutions in secured transactions, real estate, bankruptcy, and litigation. Mr. Anderson’s expertise in technology contracts and licensing began with start-up ventures in New York City, and he remains well-versed in intellectual property, data protection, privacy protocols for Personally Identifiable Information (PII), ETRM software, and KYC regulations. 

Mr. Anderson earned a Juris Doctor, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Florida. He is a member of the Florida Bar, Florida Blue Key, IAPP, and holds a SHRM-CP certification.
