Building Inspection Division
City of Jacksonville offices, including the Building Inspection Division, will be closed Wednesday October 9, Thursday October 10, and Friday October 11 due to Hurricane Milton.
No inspections will be performed during this time.
Purpose
The Building Inspection Division is responsible for protecting the public health, safety and welfare through the enforcement of the Florida Building Code and the City of Jacksonville's building ordinances.

Online Permit Submission
Online (electronic) permit submission is now required for all permit types. Please see more information on the Online Permit Submission page in the 'fly out' menu to the left.
Office Hours
Office Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We are located on the 2nd Floor of the Ed Ball Building at 214 North Hogan Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
Florida Building Code 8th Edition (2023)
The Effective Date for the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition (2023), will be December 31, 2023. Documents for permits submitted on or after January 1, 2024 will need to reference and comply with the Florida Building Code 8th Edition (2023). It can be accessed online for free at the Florida Building Commission website, www.floridabuilding.org.
Florida Building Code 7th Edition (2020)
The Effective Dates for the Florida Building Code, 7th Edition (2020), were December 31, 2020 through December 31, 2023.

Public Records Notice
The City of Jacksonville is committed to making its website compliant with all state, local, and federal laws, as well as accessible to as many people as possible.
