Born the son of a U.S. Army officer, Kevin Carrico grew up living all over the country and the world. Ultimately, his family settled in Jacksonville, where he graduated as a Mandarin Mustang in 2001, playing football and singing for the choir. He graduated from Florida State University (Go 'Noles!) in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. From there, he pursued a successful career in private country club management.
Driven by a desire for more meaningful work, Kevin returned to Jacksonville to serve at the Jacksonville Youth Sanctuary, where he became President of the Board. Continuing his journey in public service, Kevin served as Vice President of Operations for the Clara White Mission from 2012-2016, helping Jacksonville's homeless population work their way into better circumstances.
Kevin earned his Master's Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from the University of North Florida in 2016. He also completed programs with Lifework Leadership in 2016 and Leadership Jacksonville in 2019. He was a mayoral appointee to the Citizens Planning and Advisory Committee, Zone 4 from 2014-2016.
Kevin now serves as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. He endeavors to keep kids safe through prevention and intervention at his organization, which serves over 10,000 kids at 59 locations across five counties in Northeast Florida, making it one of the largest Boys & Girls Clubs in America.
Kevin ran for City Council in 2020, motivated by a genuine love for people and a commitment to service. Since then, his impressive work and dedication representing District 4 have earned him numerous accolades and special assignments. He served as the chair of the Land Use and Zoning Committee from 2022-2025. During that time, he received the Tobacco-Free Jacksonville Public Official of the Year award and the Mary Singleton Award, was named Legislator of the Year by the Northeast Florida Builders Association, was appointed Chair of the Special Committee for the Future of Downtown, and was elected by his peers to serve as the Vice President of the City Council from 2024-2025.
In 2025, Kevin was elected the 57th President of the City Council. He brings his years of leadership, public service, civic engagement, and youth advocacy to this new position. During his term, he plans to focus on three core values: faith, family, and future.
Kevin is a proud father to his daughter, Monroe, the love of his life and his number one priority. He has attended Impact Church since 2016. He is an FSU Seminole Booster and a lifetime member of the FSU Alumni Association. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, golfing, fishing, and singing.
Kevin loves all people, no matter who they are or where they're from. Though he has lived and traveled all over the country, Jacksonville holds a special place in his heart, and he maintains his unwavering dedication to its residents and their future.
