The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the City of Jacksonville are joining communities nationwide to observe Fire Prevention Week, October 5–11, 2025. This year’s national theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” highlights the importance of charging, storing, and recycling batteries safely.

Sponsored by the First Coast Section of the American Planning Association (APA) and in collaboration with the City of Jacksonville Transportation Planning Division and the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization, Bike Walk Jax (formerly BPAC) will be hosting an event for the World Day of Remembrance (WDoR) for Road Traffic Victims on Saturday, November 15 at Artist Square Park in Riverside.

Update on Tropical Depression Nine

The City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Preparedness Division continues to closely monitor Tropical Depression Nine, a system that is currently approaching the Bahamas. It is expected to gradually strengthen into Tropical Storm Imelda by this evening, and potentially into a hurricane by late Monday or Tuesday as it parallels the Atlantic coast of Florida. It is then forecast to make a right turn away from the SE US coast.
