The City of Jacksonville has released the following frequently asked questions to update residents and stakeholders on homeless outreach efforts:
 

The City of Jacksonville, along with its partners, the Jacksonville Branch NAACP, the Jacksonville Urban League, and the JAX Chamber, invite the community to the 38th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast presented by Florida Blue on Friday, January 17, at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m., followed by the program at 8 a.m., led by hosts Dawn Lopez from Action News Jax and Anthony Austin from First Coast News. The theme of this year’s event is “Audacious Faith in the Future,” which is a phrase from Dr. King’s 1964 Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech.

The National Weather Service is forecasting dangerously cold temperatures, with wind chills, or “feels like” temperatures in the 20s for this evening. A Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory are in effect for Duval County tonight through tomorrow morning.
 

Chief Kevin Jones, who serves as Jacksonville’s Fire Marshall and leads the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department’s Fire Prevention Division, is retiring after more than 30 years with the department. His last day with JFRD is Friday, January 3, 2025.

In observance of New Year’s Day, the following City government offices and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
