Orlando Magic and New Orleans Pelicans to Face Off in October

Continuing Jacksonville’s momentum as a destination for sports and entertainment, Mayor Alvin Brown announced today that the NBA’s Orlando Magic and New Orleans Pelicans will kick off their 2013-14 season with a preseason game on Oct. 9.

In accordance with Sec. 7.201 of the City Charter and Ordinance 2013-367-E, the City Council desires to hire Independent Legislative Counsel. The engagement the law firm will be interviewed by the City Council Executive Committee and confirmed by the full City Council. The Legislative Counsel will report directly to the City Council. The Legislative Counsel will advise the City Council on legislative matters as the Council directs and will supplement, not replace, services provided by the Office of General Counsel.

Closing Date – Friday, June 14, 2013. Allocated Appropriation: $75,000.

Mayor Alvin Brown and JAXUSA Partnership, a division of the JAX Chamber, announced today that Bank of America, Energy Intelligence Worldwide Corp. (EIWC) and Total Quality Logistics LLC are each proposing major expansions in Jacksonville. Combined, the companies’ projects are projected to create 320 new high-wage jobs with an average annual salary of more than $50,000 and approximately $14 million in capital investment in Jacksonville.
