The Military Affairs and Veterans Department, in partnership with Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of North Florida, will host the 8^th Annual Vetrepreneur (a current or future veteran entrepreneur and/or small business owner) Summit on Friday, December 6, 2024.

Mayor Deegan to light the City’s Christmas Tree

In observance of Thanksgiving, the following City government offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29.

Jacksonville was recently ranked fifth for U.S. cities with the most “brain gain” by USA Today. Cities with brain gain are those that are successfully attracting and retaining college-educated individuals. Communities with a net loss of college graduates experience “brain drain.”

The City of Jacksonville is set to light up the St. Johns River once again with the annual Jacksonville Light Boat Parade on November 30, 2024. A fleet of decorated boats, ranging from small vessels to grand yachts, will take to the water at 6:30 p.m., followed by an awe-inspiring fireworks finale that includes the beloved "waterfalls" effect off both the Main Street and Acosta Bridges. This year, we’re adding even more excitement with new activities along the Southbank, including activations at Friendship Fountain.

The City of Jacksonville, NAACP Jacksonville Branch, Jacksonville Urban League, and JAX Chamber invite the community to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life, legacy, and service at the 38th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast presented by Florida Blue on Friday, January 17, at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. The doors will open at 7 a.m., and the program will begin at 8 a.m. 

National Farm City Week is being celebrated in Jacksonville from November 17-23, 2024, and the Jacksonville-Duval County Agricultural Council, in collaboration with the Duval County Farm Bureau, holds an annual Luncheon in recognition of this national observance to salute all agricultural industries. Agriculture in Duval County is responsible for over 120,000 jobs and has a direct and indirect economic impact of $10.2 billion dollars annually.

JaxParks invites the community to gather with friends and celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving at this inaugural community event at Friendship Fountain! Enjoy delicious Thanksgiving-themed food from local food trucks and businesses including homemade pies from the Peach Cobbler Factory, sip on refreshing drinks from the fountain bar, and soak in the vibes with live music provided by Adam Cotton! Tables and chairs will be set up for everyone, so come ready to eat, drink, and enjoy Community and Friendship, Sunday, November 24^th from 2 – 7pm located downtown at 1015 Museum Circle.

Earlier today, the City of Jacksonville and Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) kicked off an ongoing partnership to plant trees at bus stops throughout the city to provide shade for transit riders, beautify the city, and improve community health.

Mayor Donna Deagan recently appointed seven new members to the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Television, Motion Picture & Commercial Production.
