Help Duval County spread kindness, fight hunger and collect peanut butter for families in our community this October!
The Duval County Peanut Butter Challenge is part of a statewide initiative through the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), where counties across Florida compete to collect as much peanut butter as possible and deliver donations to local food pantries before the holiday season.
Peanut butter is a nutritious, shelf-stable food staple that is in high demand at food pantries. Throughout October, community members are encouraged to donate jars of peanut butter and help Duval County make a meaningful impact for families facing food insecurity.
And, of course, there are bragging rights on the line! Counties also compete to see who can collect the most peanut butter.
Duval County's Peanut Butter Impact
Duval County has proudly participated in the Peanut Butter Challenge for the past four years, consistently making an impact both locally and across the state.
From 2022 through 2025, Duval County collected:
6,035 jars of peanut butter
8,055.96 pounds of peanut butter
More than 4 tons of peanut butter!
Duval County has also placed in the Top 3 in the Northeast Region and the Top 5 in the state for peanut butter collections. Each year, donations have reached an increasing number of local food pantries, helping ensure this nutritious food staple gets into the hands of families who need it.
How You Can Help
Donate unopened unexpired jars of peanut butter and other spreads from October 1 through October 31 at participating collection locations throughout Duval County.
Every jar counts! Whether you donate one jar or organize a collection with your workplace, school, neighborhood or organization, your contribution can help make a difference.
