About Forest Street Dog Park
When Parks was approached by Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) in 2025 to design a new dog park, the space was a simple open lawn adjacent to ACPS' dog runs. Parks and ACPS worked with the Tree Commission to plant trees via the Tree Fund to increase shade, increase biodiversity, reduce stormwater runoff, and create more interest for furry and non-furry visitors. Additional improvements include: fencing with mirrored sally ports (or double-gated entries) into both the large and small dog areas, dog waste receptacles, picnic tables, a trash receptacle, signage, irrigation improvements, and landscape improvements. All of these improvements lend to creating a new park destination in the Mixon Town/Brooklyn area while also increasing awareness and visibility for the many programs and events at ACPS next door. The Forest Street Dog Park was opened Spring 2026.
