Adopt for LOVE at ACPS

Adopt a Pet at Animal Care and Protective Services

Adopting a pet is a life-changing experience, both for you and the animal you welcome into your home. At Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS), we believe every pet deserves a loving family. Here’s why adoption is so important and how we make the process easy and rewarding.

The Easy Adoption Process at ACPS

1. Visit Us: Come to our shelter, and meet the animals in person. You can also view our adoptable pets online to see who’s available.

2. Meet and Greet: Spend some time with the animals you’re interested in. Our staff and volunteers are here to answer any questions and help you find the right fit.

3. Questionnaire: Fill out a simple adoption questionnaire. Our goal is to understand your needs and ensure the pet you choose is a good match for your home.

4. Home Preparation: Once your adoption is finalized, we’ll provide tips on how to prepare your home for your new family member.

5. Adoption Fee: Pay a small adoption fee that helps cover the cost of medical care and supplies for the animals.

6. Take Your Pet Home: After completing the paperwork, you can take your new pet home the same day! We’ll provide you with a starter food and resources to help your pet settle in.

All of the pets shown here have completed their stray hold and are available for adoption today at Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS).

These animals were found as strays in Duval County or surrendered by their owners and are now ready to find new homes. If you see a pet you’re interested in, visit us in person to meet them. We are open every day from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Holiday hours may vary.

If you are missing a pet, we strongly encourage you to visit the shelter in person as soon as possible with:

  • A valid photo ID

  • Proof of ownership such as veterinary records, microchip registration, or personal photos

Some animals may already have adoption holds or may no longer be available, so coming in promptly is important.
