City of Jacksonville Launches Flag Retirement Drop Box Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend

In honor of Memorial Day, and in continued service to the city's military and veteran community, the City of Jacksonville's Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD) has installed a U.S. Flag Retirement Drop Box outside of Suite 175 in the City Hall Annex. The new box offers citizens a respectful and convenient way to dispose of old or worn American flags in accordance with flag retirement protocols.

City of Jacksonville Announces the Blue Cypress Park - Pool Facility Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and the 2025 Pool Season

The City of Jacksonville will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Blue Cypress Park Pool Facility and announce the opening of City pools for the 2025 Pool Season on Wednesday, May 21st at 9AM at 4012 University Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32277. The ceremony, which will feature remarks by stakeholders and City Officials, will be held outside on the pool deck, with a tour of the facility to follow.

CITY OF JACKSONVILLE TO BEGIN FIRE CHIEF TRANSITION PROCESS

After 29 years of distinguished service with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) and 6 years leading this team, Chief Keith Powers will retire on June 30, 2025. He will continue to be a mentor and resource as the City of Jacksonville begins the process of appointing JFRD’s next Chief.

City Opens First Entrepreneurship Workforce Development Center

Earlier today, Mayor Deegan, along with other city representatives, opened Jacksonville’s first Entrepreneurship Workforce Development Center at 865 Golfair Blvd., in the Brentwood neighborhood.
