To help share those stories with visitors and neighbors alike, Visit Jacksonville offers a free Tourism Ambassador training program that empowers residents to become local guides, storytellers, and ambassadors for their city. 
 

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the City of Jacksonville are joining communities nationwide to observe Fire Prevention Week, October 5–11, 2025. This year’s national theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” highlights the importance of charging, storing, and recycling batteries safely.
 

A week of community events celebrating sustainability, art, and action

The City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Preparedness Division continues to closely monitor Tropical Depression Nine, a system that is currently approaching the Bahamas. It is expected to gradually strengthen into Tropical Storm Imelda by this evening, and potentially into a hurricane by late Monday or Tuesday as it parallels the Atlantic coast of Florida. It is then forecast to make a right turn away from the SE US coast.
