City Office and Facilities Closed for Labor Day

In observance of Labor Day, the following city government offices and facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 4.

This morning during a news conference at City Hall, Mayor Curry signed a bill -- introduced by Councilmember Doyle Carter -- transferring management of NAS Cecil Field's Prisoners of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA) monuments to POW/MIA Memorial, Inc.

Volunteers needed for the Florida Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 16, 2017

Site captains will register volunteers and provide bags and gloves at the cleanup locations.

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Jacksonville area added 17,400 new private-sector jobs in the last year. Jacksonville’s unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in July, down 0.7 percentage point from one year ago.
