The City of Jacksonville has designated July 16, 2024, as a Heat Emergency Day because it is the third consecutive day a Heat Advisory (maximum heat index is expected to be between 108°F and 112°F) has been issued for Duval County.

Mayor Donna Deegan presented the proposed 2024-2025 budget to the Jacksonville City Council this morning. The proposal includes a $1.92 billion general fund budget and $489 million in the 2025 portion of the five-year Capital Improvement Plan, which is $1.95 billion in total from 2025-2029.

The City of Jacksonville’s Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD) has been awarded a three-year grant of $271,457 per year from the U.S. Department of Labor to support the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP). Volunteers Needed for July 5th Beach Cleanup After Independence Day Celebrations

The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful will partner with the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol for the annual July 5th Beaches Cleanup following the Independence Day holiday. Last year, 158 volunteers invested 316 hours of their time to collect 229 bags, or 4,580 pounds of debris.
