During the City Council debate on a controversial immigration bill, a simple question was asked:

“Who does this bill help?” No one answered – not the bill’s sponsor, not its supporters. The silence was telling because the answer indeed is – no one.

In observance of Juneteenth, many City government offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Mayor Donna Deegan has issued the following statement regarding the security incident that occurred during the full City Council meeting on May 27, 2025:
 

In observance of Memorial Day, many City government offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2025.

The City of Jacksonville’s Office of Administrative Services is issuing an air quality advisory today, due to elevated levels of ozone.  Warm and dry weather conditions could contribute to the elevated ozone concentrations. Elevated ozone levels are forecast for the next couple of days.

In honor of Memorial Day, and in continued service to the city's military and veteran community, the City of Jacksonville's Military Affairs and Veterans Department (MAVD) has installed a U.S. Flag Retirement Drop Box outside of Suite 175 in the City Hall Annex. The new box offers citizens a respectful and convenient way to dispose of old or worn American flags in accordance with flag retirement protocols.
