STABLE HOUSING WEBSITE LAUNCHED WITH CITY CODE ENFORCEMENT DATA
New online resource helps renters research code enforcement history, eviction filings, and local housing assistance
Today, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) released jaxstablehousing.org, the Jacksonville Stable Housing Coalition website. It provides a searchable database for residents to look up code enforcement violations and eviction filings for prospective or current rental housing. The City of Jacksonville is providing Municipal Code Compliance Division data that shows code enforcement history for rental properties listed on the registry.
Additionally, the website provides a list of City and community programs that provide rental, utility, and legal assistance. This resource list includes the City-funded Jacksonville Eviction Diversion Program that has helped hundreds of families avoid evictions.
“Jacksonville renters deserve a safe, stable, and quality place to call home. This new resource puts the history of any rental property at their fingertips so they can navigate housing challenges with reliable information, practical tools, and easy access to local assistance,” said Mayor Donna Deegan. “We have worked closely with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid and Councilman Peluso’s Office to support this project and we’re grateful for their partnership.”
“Safe, stable housing starts with ensuring tenants have the information and resources they need to understand their rights and navigate housing challenges. This rental registry database is an important step toward greater transparency,” said City of Jacksonville Affordable Housing Director Joshua Hicks. “It makes available meaningful information about rental properties — including inspection history, violations and eviction data — so tenants can make more informed decisions about where to live and connect with available resources.”
